What an amazing start to the 2021 competition season!
We are now in the middle of the Super Series competitions, and have had so much fun seeing everyone at Coffs Harbour and Adelaide over the last couple of weeks. We can see how hard everyone has been training, and how much effort you and your coaches have put into the season already.
You'll see lots of new
faces this year as we welcome a number of new schools and clubs to FISAF. Our sport continues to grow rapidly, and it's great to see that growth happening in a number rural areas as well as in existing 'hub' areas. A very warm welcome to everyone who is new to FISAF this year!
We have been working on some new projects for this year, with one of those being a Team Camp for our 2021 International Stream athletes. Athletes in this stream spend hours every week training to be at the most elite level of our sport. Despite travel restrictions impacting overseas travel, these athletes have remained focused, dedicated and determined. This year, more than ever we feel like they deserve something special. You'll find details in this edition, so please read on and enjoy!
We look forward to seeing you all very soon!
Best wishes,
The FISAF Team

We are so excited to have kicked-off the season with our Super Series events! So far we have been to Coffs Harbour (NSW) and Adelaide (SA) and we would like to congratulate all the athletes who have participated.
Whilst some COVID-19 restrictions remain in place, we are programming all events to enable as many spectators to attend as possible.
Thank you to all the coaches working hard to get entries in on time. Many of you know that we like to release our programs as early as possible, so receiving entries on-time is a big help!

Lucy Goddard is the queen of wearing multiple hats, and to 'Spotlight' her for this issue is no easy task. Lucy's bubbly personality is gravitating, and her love of aerobics (and ability to command a rowdy group of 150-odd chatty students) is second to no-one.
She first discovered aerobics at 11 years old when she spotted it through a classroom window in primary school, and before long she was in one of the school teams.
As she headed into high school she joined a local club (now called Industrie 1 Sport Aerobics) and spent multiple nights each week travelling the 1.5hr round-trip to training. Lucy competed in every section possible, from singles, trios, small teams and her favourite - fitness. Her passion for the sport was endless!
When her HPE teacher at Lourdes Hill College asked her to coach a school team, her career in coaching aerobics began. In 2007 she started with 14 athletes in 2 teams, and today, 15 years later, she is Head Coach to 160 athletes in 32 teams and 10 coaches.
She was soon coaching at her club, coaching at her school, and added studying for her HPE teaching degree at University.
It probably
comes as no surprise that when she started her full-time role as HPE teacher at Gumdale State School she started an aerobics program there. In 4 short years of running the program, she now has over 200 students involved.
More recently she was selected as the e 2019 Australian Team Coach for the FISAF World Championships in the Netherlands, which is one of the highlights of her career. To be a part of the Aussie athletes journey is something she is so incredibly proud of.
Another incredible thing about Lucy is her achievements as an Accredited FISAF Judge - both nationally and internationally. Her all-round involvement in FISAF further lead to her appointment to the FISAF International Technical Committee in 2020.

Lucy Goddard Australian & International Judge Member, International Technical Committee Member, Australian Advisory Panel HPE Teacher & Sport Aerobics Coach, Gumdale State School & Lourdes Hill College Senior Coach, Industrie 1 Sport Aerobics
On a personal note, Lucy is a friend to so many, a source of motivation, laughs, support and advice.
How she fits all this in, as well as a regular trip to the theatre for her beloved musicals is anyone's guess! She does it though - all with a brilliant smile on her face.
Thank you so much Lucy, for everything you do and everything you bring to the sport and our FISAF Community.

SCHOOL PROGRAMS ARE ON THE RISE!

We love that new schools are offering FISAF aerobics to their students!
Schools love being part of FISAF because it's inclusive, fun, and comes with a host of support from the FISAF Australia team.
The FISAF Australia School Stream offers a simplified approach to learning and performing aerobics that makes it possible for any student to be involved, regardless of experience, gender, age or ability.
We are proud that everyone in a school's community can enjoy the sport including students, teachers, parents as well as the school leadership team.
Our competitions are focused on having fun, and providing students with an opportunity to showcase their hard work amongst their peers.
If you would like your school to offer FISAF sport aerobics, we would love to hear from you!
